Can I wear your pieces daily? What about in the water, or at the gym etc?

Wear me in water, at the gym, at the beach, during sex, get wet with it. Go for it. Our pieces are tarnish resistant. It is important to note that NO piece of jewellery that is NOT solid gold CAN EVENTUALLY tarnish. If your jewellery is gold-filled, gold plated, gold vermeil, or anything that is NOT solid gold, tarnishing CAN happen regardless. However, our pieces have all been subject to quality testing to ensure longevity.

Yes, you can wear our pieces in the shower, at the gym, whilst sweating, spray perfume and chemicals on it, wear it at the beach etc... However, this CAN reduce the longevity of your pieces and cause it to tarnish over time. Especially if you do not properly clean or dry your jewellery post wear. Our Laurel Crown Chain, follows the same aforementioned rules, however, due to its intricacies and detailed chain, I advise against wearing it in water etc. as moisture can get trapped inside the chain, which is quite difficult to remove and completely dry out. Please be careful to not be rough with your jewellery. Wear it to the gym etc., but don’t drop 40kg weights on it and expect it to be okay. Treat it with care so it at lasts you as long as possible. Likewise, take your jewellery off when you go to bed. People with long hair might end up with their jewellery tangled in their hair etc. Do not handle your jewellery forcibly, bending it, shaping it, forcing it to look a different way etc. Your warranty does not cover this.

Store your pieces in our gift pouches, and away from direct sunlight whilst not in use.

How exactly have you 'tested' the quality of Asphodel Atelier jewellery?

I subject my chains and pendants to a cupful of water. This water contains a very heavy dosage of salt, perfumes, colognes, handsoap, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, and toothpaste. I let the chains and pendants sit in this cup for a month in the sun on my bedroom window. Once that month is up I empty the cup, rinse the tester chains off and see how it's held up. Every time I've done this, my pieces have not shown any evidence of tarnishing.

So, rest easy knowing that I've tested your pieces for quality. There's no way in hell I'd be comfortable selling my pieces at their price without having tested them prior.

How does the owner of Asphodel Atelier wear their jewellery?

I wear my jewellery in the shower, at the beach etc. I don't take it off. My pieces have not shown any evidence of tarnishing despite this exposure.

Where are you based?

Based in Western Sydney! If you're a local I'm happy to offer you local-same-day-shipping. Note this will incur an additional fee due to petrol prices.

And yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping calculations and estimates are seen at the checkout. We only deliver with signature on delivery - you will get a card if you're not home to collect it at your local post office.

Who designs your pieces?

We do :) My friend and designer Claire gets sent all my random drawings, ideas, and other shit and I ask her to make them into a pendant. Things are usually lost in translation - except the 'No Rival' pendant which was a seamless process.

Our pendants are ALL original designs, so you won't see anything else out there similar to what we do.

What materials are your products made with?

We aim to have full transparency. All our products have their materials listed in their descriptions. But, for easy reference:

All chains, and ear cuffs are made with 925 sterling silver (92.5% silver, and 7.5% brass), with a 2.5 micron 14k gold plating for gold pieces, and 0.1 microns of Rhodium plating on silver pieces.

Our pendants, are the same, but 92.5% sterling silver, and 7.5% brass and copper alloyed to it, with a 2.5 micron plating of 14k gold, and 0.1 micron plating of Rhodium.

I have jewellery allergies - what can/can't I wear?

If you have any allergies or sensitivities to sterling silver, copper, brass, 14k gold, or rhodium, unfortunately our jewellery is not for you.

If you'd like our pieces in solid gold, or just sterling silver without a rhodium plating, get in touch and I can sort that out for you.

Do you ship worldwide?

Of course. Shipping rates and delivery estimates are shown at checkout. Just a kind reminder that we do NOT have ANY affiliations, or work with, or own, the postage services. We cannot track lost or stolen parcels, and we cannot replace these. We only ship with signature on delivery. Cards will be left for you to collect your package at your local post if you are not home.

NOTE: International orders can incur unexpected, hidden fees. These are out of our control and we are UNABLE to do anything about them. By purchasing internationally you acknowledge and accept these risks.

Will your jewellery tarnish?

All jewellery, unless it is solid gold CAN eventually tarnish. Our jewellery is made with high quality 925 sterling silver, 2.5 microns of 14k gold plating, and 0.1 microns of rhodium plating.

Our pieces have been subjected to tests before being sold to customers. Every style of chain/pendant we stock has had a chain/pendant subjected to one month testing for quality.

To reiterate, any jewellery that is not solid gold CAN tarnish, however, our pieces are incredibly tarnish resistant.

What is 'Rhodium"?

Rhodium is a metal that comes from the same family as platinum. It's more durable and stronger than white gold, and shinier. Hence why we opted for Rhodium plating instead of white gold.

Vermeil essentially refers to jewellery made with a base of silver and a layer of gold/rhodium plating. So, all our gold pieces have a 2.5 micron gold plating, whilst our silver pieces have a 0.1 micron rhodium plating.

Why only 0.1 microns for silver pieces? Firstly, 2.5 microns of Rhodium plating is incredibly excessive, and expensive, you don't need that many microns for rhodium. Rhodium is an incredibly durable, shinier than white gold, and resistant material. Thus, less microns are needed, making it cheaper for you, and maintaining great quality.

925 Sterling Silver means a 92.5% composition of silver. This means that the other 7.5% is alloyed with other materials. All our chains are alloyed with brass. Our pendants are alloyed with brass and copper.

What are your 'Artist Collabs'?

Essentially, Asphodel Atelier has teamed up with various independant music artists, like Alaina Cross, and BELLSAINT to create pendants inspired by their music. Think of these pendants as the physical manifestations of their music. Each artist has worked with us to design something that truly reflects their music. Each sale of their respective pendants donates 10% to these artists to continue to support them for their art and music.

Want us to collab with your favourite artist? Let us know via @asphodel_atelier or atelierasphodel@gmail.com, OR get your artist to DM us!
